Our goal is to place our pups in their forever homes.

Our process considers many factors, including; energy level, personality, and adopter experience, just to name a few.

We have a very thorough adoption process to make sure we make the best match possible. Please read below before filling out an app.

Our process

Adopters must be over the age of 25.

Adopters must live within about a 2 hour drive of Philadelphia.

Submit an application
All applications are processed in the order they are received, reviewed for best-fit basis and generally take 2 to 3 days to review. We may follow-up with additional questions prior to an initial approval and will check in with your veterinarian and references before we can get back to you.

Phone interview
One of our volunteers will set up a phone call to discuss your application and the needs of the dog you are interested in. This is an opportunity to tell you about the specifics of a particular dog and answer any questions you may have to make sure it’s a good fit.

In-person meet
After initial approval, we require an in-person meet with the dog you are interested in. Depending on the dog, the potential adopter, and whether there is an existing pet in the home, several in-person meets may be required.

Home check
All applicants will receive a home visit before final approval to adopt.

Foster-to-adopt trial period
A two-week foster-to-adopt trial period will take place post in-person meet(s), interview, references checks, and home visit. Dogs need a decompression period and time to get used to their new environment and family. This trial period gives everyone the time to make sure it’s a perfect forever fit. We’ll be here to help make the transition as smooth as possible.

Thank you for your patience and understanding through the process. Our goal is to find the best possible home for our pups.

Final adoption approval is at the discretion of Paw It 4ward.

Adoption fee

$250

Our adoption fee helps us cover a portion of the cost of fostering, medical care, vaccinations, and microchipping.

Adoption fee includes: full vetting shots, spay/neuter, preventative testing, initial maintenance medication, microchipping, and a training session with our professional trainer.

Jonah2.jpg

Many dogs are surrendered to shelters due to medical conditions and often, underfunded shelters, don’t have the resource to help them

When Jonah came into the shelter he was in a lot of pain. An exam showed Jonah would need a costly FHO surgery (Femoral Head Ostectomy) to help him live a pain free life. Paw It 4ward was able to pull Jonah and with the help of fund raising efforts were able to get him the care he needed. Jonah is now living his best life with his forever family.
